Nin Mantra (Royal: Nin Marania) was a commander in Efsisi's army. She was later chosen to be one of King Fyuri's ceremonial guards during the Festival of Light.
History
Early Life
Mantra was born into the Nin family, one of the most powerful noble Setulyan families in Efsisi. The Setulyan family was one of the premiere families among which the Setulyan sect of Battlism emerged. The Setulyan sect, practiced only in central Efsisi, assigned careers to their children based on birth order, which in turn was based on the order in which the first humans are created in the Scrolls. Because she was her parents' first child, Mantra was ordained to be a warrior. From an early age, she was trained in fighting and battle tactics. Though she was reluctant to be a warrior at first, her parents were quite cruel to her in order to both subdue her and strengthen her mentally.
University
Mantra went on to attend Genro university in the Bread Bin—Gera's foremost military academy. Though she trained herself in the ways of combat, she vastly preferred the shield over the blade. In addition, she studied as much military history and tactics as she could. It was at Genro that she met her friend Melody. Though their backgrounds could not have been more different, they found that their personalities and skills complimented each other. Mantra excelled at planning and plotting out battle formations, but she was often too risk-averse and faltered when a battle went unexpectedly, while Melody was excellent at thinking on her feet. With each others' help, Melody and Mantra managed to graduate at the top of their class. Eventually, both returned to Efsisi and joined its army, where Mantra's credentials and noble parentage and Melody's skills and connection to Yakov allowed them to rise up the government ranks and soon become co-commanders.
Commandership
Upon becoming a brigadier commander in Efsisi's army in 1798 GY, she and Melody's first assignment was to command the forces stemming the recent flow of beasts from the Dark Canopy.
